The area of Divljana Lake is a part of the „Special nature reserve of Suva planina mountain“. The lake is located in the valley of the river Koritnica, the left tributary of the river Nišava, about 50 km from Niš. Due to crystal clear water and a large number of fish species, the lake is a real paradise for swimmers and fishermen. In the surroundings, there is a Monument of nature „The old oak tree“. It is estimated that it is about 1025 years old. It was planted by vassals of the Bulgarian Emperor Samuil, who ruled from 976 to 1014. The tree has a circumference of 6.35 m, a diameter of 2.02 m and a height of 13.43 meters. At only 10-20 meters from this oak, there is another about 500 years old. In the vicinity, there is

Monastery of St. Demetrius (Divljana Monastery). By the legend Divljana Monastery is the endownment of Mrnjačević and dating from the end of the 13th and the beggining of the 14th century. The tradition of sanctuary dates back as long as early Christian-4th century. Large number of ancient monuments were found in the monastery of which two capitols could be seen today. It is presumed that the name of Divljana probably origins from the fairy Diviana, and comes from the latin word Divius – God (son of God) in ancient Romans world.
