The monument of nature „Devil’s
Town“ is located in the Southern Serbia near village Djake in the
municipality of Kuršumlija. The soil figures are situated in the
valley of Djake creek, in two gullies divided by a narrow watershed.
There are about 200 soil figures in total, in different shapes and
size, the height ranging from 2 to 15 meters. The most of them have
the stone cap on top. This geomorphological phenomenon is unique in
Serbia and extremly rare in the world. In Europe, there are similar
sites in the Alps near Bolzano, and aslo in Upper Savoy in France.
Devil’s town was a nominee for the New Seven Wonders of Nature.
In the vicinity of Devil’s town,
there are Prolom Banja spa and Neolithic archaeological site
„Pločnik“. Prolom spa has several thermal springs. Prolom water
is a low mineral water with high curative characteristics which is
bottled and sold. Pločnik site is very authentic reconstruction of
the original settlement that dates back to the pre history period. It
represents a unique experience for tourist.
